How to replace gaskets for various valves
Valve accessories such as gate valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, etc. are often more prone to damage than the valve itself, such as flange gaskets. So, how to replace damaged flange gaskets?
Replacing flange gaskets requires following the following four basic principles: preparing materials and tools, paying attention to the operating steps, and meeting two technical requirements and five key points.
(1) Preparation work
① Materials: butter, cotton yarn, leak detector, sealing gasket.
② Tools: wrench, screwdriver.
(2) Operation steps
① Remove the flange connection bolts, dismantle the valve or remove the leaking end pipe section. Remove the waste sealing gasket from the sealing surface,
② Choose a suitable gasket and apply a layer of butter evenly on both sides.
➂ Place the sealing gasket on the sealing surface between the two flanges, align it with the center of the two flanges and the center of the bolt hole, install the bolt, screw on the nut, and tighten the nut diagonally multiple times with equal force. The bolt should extend 23 pitches beyond the green nut length. After the installation of the flange gasket, it should undergo a working pressure test without any leakage to be qualified.
(3) Technical requirements
① Be careful during operation to prevent damage to the flange.
② After completion, the tools should be cleaned and maintained.
(4) Five key points for installing Zhipian
① Correct selection: The form, material, and size of flanges, bolts, and gaskets should be selected appropriately according to the operating conditions and the structural form of the flange surface.
② Careful inspection: Before installation, the quality of flanges, bolts, nuts, and gaskets should be carefully checked to ensure that there are no defects such as burrs, unevenness, cracks, etc. Carefully inspect the installation of flanges and pipes, and there should be no deviation, misalignment, or wrong holes,
③ Clean: The flange sealing surface must be thoroughly cleaned, and bolts and gaskets must not be contaminated with impurities, oil stains, etc.
④ Correctly installed: The gasket should be concentric with the pipe or fitting.
⑤ Uniform installation: Install bolts and nuts with even force and tighten them symmetrically in multiple times,
